As the end of week five approaches, we know that students have been overloaded with projects, papers and midterms. Even though it may seem like winter term is moving at full speed, don’t give up on doing well in your classes! And always remember that we, the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence (CMAE), are here to support you.
So you might ask, what exactly does CMAE do anyways? Here’s a quick list of the services and programs we offer:
- Academic advising – Need helping figuring out your schedule for next term? Can’t decide if your major is the right one for you? Worried about credits needed for graduation? Our academic advisors can help you figure that all out and more.
- Mentoring – If you need help with navigating the university and your college career, our staff and student workers can offer you advice and resources.
- Math and other subject learning guides – We have tutors and resource materials to help you do well in classes, as well as with tests such as the MCAT.
- Undergraduate research – Are you interested in a project? Need help with one, or want to gain experience through being a research assistant? We can connect you with people and tools.
- Cultural programming and community connections – We can help you gain information on cultural events and support groups within the UO and Eugene/Springfield community.
- Leadership development – Do you want to gain leadership experience? Are you a strong team leader or member, or do you desire to be one? We can connect you with the various student groups on campus.
- EMU office hours – We now have CMAE staff office hours every Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. in the EMU, and we alternate between the Mills International Center and the Multicultural Center.
- CMAE Campus Connections – We are hosting a new series of workshops for students on Tuesdays at 2. Find more information on the calendar of this website, or on our Facebook or Twitter!
This is just a quick preview of everything CMAE can offer you, but come back to this page for future blog posts where we’ll highlight each of these services and programs in more detail. Don’t forget to browse through this website. You are always welcome to email or call us to set up an appointment as well!
